My Favourite Podcasts

I call my car, University on Wheels, because I learn so much from listening to podcasts and I usually listen to them while I'm driving. Today I thought I'd share my favourite podcasts with you because this is also where I find stories that I can share in my speeches! I usually listen to my podcasts through my iPhone - just go to the podcast icon and start looking for the ones I've listed below and  subscribe. Its FREE!

Podcasts about life and design

This American Life

An entertaining kind of journalism that's built around plot. In other words, stories! Stories that have compelling people at the center of them, funny moments, big feelings, surprising plot twists, and interesting ideas. Like little movies for radio.

99% Invisible

99% Invisible is about all the thought that goes into the things we don't think about - the unnoticed architecture and design that shape our world. My recent fav episodes have been about how skate parks came to be designed and how sand, yes sand, is the next big commodity.

Business and Leadership Podcasts

HBR Ideacast

A weekly podcast featuring the leading thinkers in business and management.

Dear HBR

The advice show for workplace dilemmas. We take your questions and offer a
better way forward.

After Hours

Harvard professors discuss news at the crossroads of business and culture.

How I built This

Guy Raz dives into the stories behind some of the world's best known companies. How I Built This weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists-and the movements they built.

Limited Series

Making Obama

A 6-part series that tells the story of how this leader started and got to where he is today. Awesome lessons about failure, politics and leadership.

Making Oprah

Oprah Winfrey tells the behind-the-scenes story of her iconic TV talk show, along with producers, staffers, TV executives, and ratings rival Phil Donahue. The three-part series chronicles the show's scrappy roots in Chicago, its rise to daytime dominance, and the powerful sway Winfrey came to have in American life.

You were very easy to deal with. Pleasant manner, tone of voice and easy to speak to.  You kind of have the voice and demeanor that make people "want" to talk with you. Once people know your story, they want to talk to you more, perhaps to grab a bit of your strength and positive attitude in their own lives.  I find you to have a caring way about you. Concerned for others and how you can help them be better at being them.
