In the interview, Maryann discussed why she wrote the book on self-esteem and happiness and we discussed the 12 pathways to a happier life, but picking on a few at a time. Here-s what we touched on:

  1. Developing a Mental Health Practice: What does mental health mean and how we can use 5 minutes in a day to start developing a practice. However, the key that Maryann pointed out was first recognizing our feelings and the way we behave before it gets too late.
  2. Round a Posse: I liked how Maryann described that we need a support system to have a healthy, happy life. Whether its friends, family or a network of people you work with, start looking for the ones that support you in all that you are striving to do.
  3. Dealing With Setbacks: Even though this is such a common saying, it is difficult to do! Maryann shared a quote by Mary Anne Radmacher that is so beautiful and it starts out, "Courage doesn't aways roar." However, watch or listen on iTunes or Stitcher to get the rest of the quote.
  4. Find a Purpose in Pain: This is difficult to do but you have to start exploring somewhere. I shared how I stuttered into my adult life and sometimes still do, but I chose to use that pain and turned into a purpose to help other women find their voice.
  5. How to start getting out of your comfort zone one month at a time. Listen or watch to get the hint on that!

You were very easy to deal with. Pleasant manner, tone of voice and easy to speak to.  You kind of have the voice and demeanor that make people "want" to talk with you. Once people know your story, they want to talk to you more, perhaps to grab a bit of your strength and positive attitude in their own lives.  I find you to have a caring way about you. Concerned for others and how you can help them be better at being them.
